It has been set to accept whole words or partial phrases.

The search system has several problems:
1. The tree files (such as the strain tree based on 16S rRNA sequences, the two genome trees) are not read by the web spiders. We have circumvented this by providing a textual listing for each, and they appear in the results as e.g. 'STRAINS: cyanobacterial phylogeny and taxonomy strain list'. Clicking on such a heading takes you to that list; you may access the tree itself from the home page of this site, and search again from the browser find box.
2. Unfortunately, ads appear on the results pages; these are not annoying.
